How to use the Amazon seller fee calculator
Enter your selling price (including GST), the product's GST rate and your product, packaging and ad costs per unit.
Copy the referral fee %, closing fee and shipping or FBA fees from the fee preview in Seller Central, and tick zero referral if your category qualifies.
Read your profit, margin and bank payout, then set a target margin to see the price to charge.
Worked example
A kitchen product sells for ₹999 including 18% GST, so ₹846.61 is yours before fees and ₹152.39 is GST. At ₹999 it qualifies for zero referral fee; with a ₹25 closing fee and ₹60 shipping fee, Amazon's fees are ₹85 plus ₹15.30 GST. After a ₹350 product cost and ₹15 of packaging, profit is ₹396.61 a unit, a 46.8% margin. Amazon pays ₹893.62 into your bank after holding back ₹4.23 TCS and ₹0.85 TDS, and you pay ₹137.09 of GST after the credit for GST on fees. Priced at ₹1,049 with a 9% referral fee, the same product makes less.
How it's worked out
Price before GST = selling price ÷ (1 + GST rate)
Amazon fees = referral % × selling price + closing + shipping + other fees, plus 18% GST
Profit (GST-registered) = price before GST − fees before GST − product cost − other costs
Bank payout = selling price − fees with GST − 0.5% TCS − 0.1% TDS
Rates: GST TCS 0.5% (CGST Act section 52, from 10 July 2024), TDS 0.1% (Income-tax Act 2025 section 393, formerly 194-O), zero referral fee up to ₹1,000 (Amazon.in, from 16 March 2026). Everything runs in your browser.
Frequently asked questions
What fees does Amazon.in charge sellers?
Mainly a referral fee (a percentage of the selling price that depends on the category), a closing fee by price band, and a shipping or weight handling fee for Easy Ship and FBA orders, plus pick and pack and storage fees for FBA. Amazon adds 18% GST to its fees. The amounts depend on your category, price, weight, region and fulfilment channel and change from time to time (in 2026 on 16 March, 17 August and 7 September), so enter the figures from the fee preview in Seller Central.
Which products have zero referral fee?
From 16 March 2026 Amazon.in charges no referral fee on products priced up to ₹1,000 in eligible categories (over 1,800 of them, such as apparel, shoes, grocery, home décor, beauty, toys, kitchen, automotive and pet products). Not every category qualifies, so check your fee preview. Pricing just above ₹1,000 can earn less than pricing at ₹1,000; the calculator points it out.
How is GST handled?
Listing prices on Amazon.in include GST. If you're GST-registered, the GST in the price goes to the government, less the 18% GST you paid on Amazon's fees (and on your purchases), which you claim as input tax credit. So a ₹999 product at 18% GST is ₹846.61 to you before fees. Without registration you can't claim the GST on fees, so it's a cost.
What are TCS and TDS on Amazon payments?
Amazon collects 0.5% GST TCS (tax collected at source) on the net value of your taxable sales and deducts 0.1% income-tax TDS on the sales. Neither is a cost: TCS is credited to your GST cash ledger and TDS counts against your income tax. TDS isn't deducted for individual or HUF sellers with PAN or Aadhaar whose sales stay under ₹5 lakh a year.
How do I find my break-even price?
It's the price at which the money left after Amazon's fees and GST exactly covers your product and other costs. With ₹25 closing and ₹60 shipping fees, ₹350 product cost and ₹15 packaging, zero referral fee and 18% GST, break-even is (25 + 60 + 350 + 15) × 1.18 = ₹531. The calculator also finds the price for any margin you aim for.
