Cookie policy

This page lists what Palz Tools keeps in your browser: cookies, and the browser storage some tools use to remember things for you. It describes the site as it runs today and changes when the site does. How we handle personal data in general is in the privacy policy.

In short

Cookies

A cookie is a small piece of text a website asks your browser to keep and send back with later requests.

What the tools keep in your browser

Local storage, session storage and IndexedDB are parts of your browser where a page can keep data on your device. Unlike cookies, they are not sent along with your requests to our server. We use them only so tools can remember things for you:

Offline copies of pages

The site has a service worker: a small script your browser runs for this site. It keeps the pages you open, and the scripts and styles they need (including ones a page loads later), in your browser's cache storage (names starting palz-), so the free calculators work without a connection after your first visit. It keeps at most 50 pages and drops the ones you opened longest ago. When you're online, pages load from the site and the saved copy is updated; the saved copy is shown only when you're offline or the site takes more than 4 seconds to answer. With Data Saver on, the only page it downloads by itself is the offline page it needs to start, so it keeps fewer pages. Nothing you type into a tool is saved in these copies.
