Base64 Encoder / Decoder

Encode text to Base64 or decode Base64 back to readable text.

Mode

What is Base64?

Base64 represents data using 64 safe characters (A–Z, a–z, 0–9, + and /), so it can travel through email, JSON, URLs and HTML. It is an encoding, not encryption: anyone can decode it.

Example

hello → aGVsbG8=. The decoder also accepts the URL-safe variant (base64url, with - and _) and missing padding, as used in JWTs.

Frequently asked questions

Does it support Hindi and emoji?

Yes. Text is converted to UTF-8 bytes before encoding, so any language works.

Why does decoding fail?

The input may contain characters outside Base64, or decode to binary data such as an image rather than text.

Is Base64 secure?

No. It only changes the format. Never use it to hide passwords or secrets.
