Frequently asked questions
How do I convert CBSE CGPA to percentage?
Multiply your CGPA by 9.5. A CGPA of 8.4 is 8.4 × 9.5 = 79.8%. CBSE calls this an indicative percentage.
Why 9.5?
CBSE worked out that students in the top grade band scored about 95 marks on average over five years. Since that band is 10 grade points, 95 ÷ 10 = 9.5.
Does every university use 9.5?
No. Many universities publish their own formula, sometimes like (CGPA − 0.75) × 10. Check your marks card or university website and enter its multiplier and subtraction above.
How do I convert percentage to CGPA?
Divide by the same multiplier. For CBSE, 76% ÷ 9.5 = 8.0 CGPA.
