How to use the 7th Pay Commission salary calculator
- Choose your pay level and your basic pay from the cells of that level, as on your pay slip.
- Check the DA rate and pick your city class for HRA (or No HRA in government housing) and your pension scheme.
- Open the extra section for transport allowance, CGHS, income tax, professional tax and GPF.
- Read your gross and net pay, the pay slip, your next increment, and pick a level to see pay on promotion.
Worked example
A Level 10 officer on ₹56,100 in an X city: DA 60% is ₹33,660, HRA 30% ₹16,830, transport allowance ₹7,200 + ₹4,320 DA, so gross pay is ₹1,18,110. NPS takes ₹8,976, CGHS ₹650, CGEGIS ₹120 and income tax about ₹7,050 a month (₹84,600 a year in the new regime, rounded to the nearest ₹10), leaving ₹1,01,314 in hand; the government adds ₹12,566 to NPS.
