NEET PG Photo, Signature & Thumb Resizer

Make the three NEET PG images: a recent colour photo, your signature and your left thumb impression in their 3.5 × 1.5 cm boxes, each a JPG under 80 KB to NBEMS's 2026 Image Upload Instructions. Nothing is uploaded.

Rules as per the NEET-PG 2026 Image Upload Instructions (NBEMS) dated 1 July 2026; check the latest notice before you apply. Open the official notice ↗

Recent colour photograph

Any pixel size · less than 80 KB · JPG/JPEG

A colour photo no more than 3 months old, front view, showing your full face, ears, neck and shoulders against a white background.

Signature in a 3.5 × 1.5 cm box

3.5 × 1.5 cm shape, any pixel size · less than 80 KB · JPG/JPEG

Your full signature in black or blue ink inside a box 3.5 cm wide and 1.5 cm high drawn on plain white unlined paper, cropped to the box.

Left thumb impression in a 3.5 × 1.5 cm box

3.5 × 1.5 cm shape, any pixel size · less than 80 KB · JPG/JPEG

A horizontal print of your left thumb, made with a fresh blue or black ink pad inside a 3.5 cm × 1.5 cm box on white paper, cropped to the box.

Inside the NEET-PG form, the Capture Photo button takes a real-time photo with your computer's webcam or built-in camera, in addition to the recent photo you upload. This tool doesn't make the live photo: see the live photo section below.

Runs in your browser: your photos and scans are never uploaded.

What NEET PG asks for

NBEMS is strict about what each image shows and loose about the file: every image has one limit, “less than 80kb”, with no minimum, and none has a pixel size. The signature and the thumb impression start on paper, inside a box 3.5 cm wide × 1.5 cm high that you draw yourself. The Image Upload Instructions' own lines are below the table.

Recent colour photograph: the notice's words

“Upload a RECENT PHOTOGRAPH (Not more than 3 months old)”

“Photograph is in colour with white background.”

“Make sure your face takes up at least 70-80% of the frame.”

“The size of image should be less than 80kb.”

“Image is in .jpg/.jpeg format.”

Name and date on the photo: Not asked for: the NEET-PG 2026 bulletin, Image Upload Instructions and User Manual don't mention a name or date on the photo.

Why 79 KB or less: NBEMS says "less than 80kb" (the User Manual says "Maximum 80 Kb"), so the tool stays at 79 KB or less, under the limit however a KB is counted.

Signature in a 3.5 × 1.5 cm box: the notice's words

“Draw a box of size 1.5 cm (height) x 3.5 cm (width). Use a black or dark blue ink pen to sign within this box.”

“Crop the image such that borders of box are reached.”

“Resize the image to less than 80 Kb”

Why 79 KB or less: NBEMS says "less than 80kb" (the User Manual says "Maximum 80 Kb"), so the tool stays at 79 KB or less, under the limit however a KB is counted.

Left thumb impression in a 3.5 × 1.5 cm box: the notice's words

“Draw a box of 3.5 cm x 1.5 cm (width x height) on a white sheet of paper”

“Set the scanner to 200 dpi.”

“Save the scanned image of thumb-print as .jpg/.jpeg format.”

Why 79 KB or less: NBEMS says "less than 80kb" (the User Manual says "Maximum 80 Kb"), so the tool stays at 79 KB or less, under the limit however a KB is counted.

How to use the NEET PG resizer

  1. Choose a recent colour photo for card 1. For cards 2 and 3, draw two boxes 3.5 cm wide × 1.5 cm high on plain white paper, sign inside one and press your left thumb inside the other, and scan or photograph each box so it fills the picture.
  2. Zoom and drag the photo until your face fills at least 70–80% of the frame with your ears, neck and shoulders still in it. Centre the box in cards 2 and 3, and tap Whiten the paper if the page looks grey.
  3. When each checklist is green, download the file: three JPGs, each less than 80 KB, ready for the image upload section of the NEET PG form.

Example: a phone photo through the NEET PG resizer

  • Recent colour photograph: a 12-megapixel phone photo, 3,000 × 4,000 px, opens as a 1,800 × 2,400 px copy; with no shape set, the frame is the whole 1,800 × 2,400 px, kept at 1,800 × 2,400 px. The JPEG is at most 79,000 bytes (less than 80 KB, aiming for 79 KB or less), named neet-pg-photo-1800x2400.jpg. Over the limit even at 60% quality, it would get fewer pixels, same shape.

The JPEG quality it lands on depends on the picture itself.

Making the signature and thumb boxes

  1. On a plain white unlined sheet, draw a box 3.5 cm wide × 1.5 cm high with a ruler, and a second one for the thumb. Since NBEMS sets no pixel size, the box is what gives both images their shape.
  2. Sign inside the first box with a black or dark blue ink pen: your full signature, not initials and not in capitals, staying inside the lines.
  3. Ink your left thumb on a fresh blue or black ink pad and press it once, horizontally, inside the second box, so the print is complete and the ridges show.
  4. Scan the sheet with the scanner set to 200 dpi, or take a straight phone photo in bright light with no flash and no shadows (NBEMS prefers a device over 5 megapixels).
  5. Choose the picture in card 2 or 3. The card's frame has the box's own shape, 3.5 : 1.5, so zoom and drag until the box's borders reach the frame's edges, as the instructions ask (“Crop the image such that borders of box are reached”).

Uploading the whole sheet is one of the reasons NBEMS gives for rejecting a thumb print: at that size the print is too small to read.

Why there's no white background button here

Other exam pages here offer to repaint the wall behind you white. NEET PG doesn't get that button, on purpose: NBEMS asks for a white background, but it also asks for no retouching or digital enhancement, prefers a studio photo, and rejects the application if the uploaded photo is grossly different from the live one. So take the photo against a real white wall, in bright light without flash, from the front, not as a selfie. This tool only crops the photo and saves it smaller; it doesn't edit your face or the background.

The live photo in the NEET PG form

Inside the NEET-PG form, the Capture Photo button takes a real-time photo with your computer's webcam or built-in camera, in addition to the recent photo you upload. Use a white background, formal clothes and bright light, with only you in the frame and your full face, ears, neck and shoulders showing. On exam day NBEMS also photographs you at the centre, records your finger biometrics and checks Face ID against your uploaded photos.

Since the two photos are compared, take the live one looking as you do in the uploaded one: the same formal clothes, the same white wall, the same bright light.

Why NEET PG uploads get rejected

  • The application is rejected if your uploaded photo is grossly different from the live photo.
  • Black and white photos are rejected.
  • Signatures that are rejected: initials only, ALL CAPITALS, a dark or non-white background, a signature outside the box, ink other than blue or black, or a photo or thumb uploaded in place of the signature.
  • Thumb impressions that are rejected: ink other than blue or black, a phone photo with a dark background, an incomplete, cropped, unclear, smudged, over-inked or dry print, a non-white background, or a print that's too small (a whole A4 sheet uploaded instead of the box).

How the tool reaches the KB range

NBEMS sets a ceiling and no floor, so the tool's only job on size is to get under 80 KB with as much quality as possible. It keeps the part of the picture you frame (your photo's own shape, the box's shape for the signature and thumb), at up to 2,400 pixels on its longer side, and finds the highest JPEG quality that stays at or under 79,000 bytes: 79 KB, so the file is less than 80 KB however a KB is counted. If even 60% quality is too big, as it can be for a full-size phone photo, the picture is made smaller with its width and height scaled together, as the instructions ask (“maintain aspect ratio”), and the search runs again. Nothing is ever padded, because there is no minimum. Check the result the way the instructions suggest, from the file's Properties; the tool's checklist reads the same file.

Check before you apply

  • NBEMS gives no pixel size for any image and no cm size for the photo (only "passport size"), so the tool keeps your photo's own crop. The 3.5 × 1.5 cm is the box you draw on paper for the signature and thumb, and the instructions say to crop the image to the box's borders, so those two are framed at the box's shape; 200 dpi is the scanner setting. The pixel count is the tool's own choice, not an NBEMS figure.
  • The limit is worded "less than 80kb" in the Image Upload Instructions and "Maximum 80 Kb" in the User Manual, with no minimum. The tool keeps every file to 79 KB (79,000 bytes) or less, under the limit however a KB is counted.
  • The instructions ask you to keep the aspect ratio when resizing: the tool never stretches your picture, it only crops where you zoom and makes the file smaller.
  • In 2026, faulty images could be fixed through the Image Scrutiny tab in the Selective Edit Window (31 July to 10 August 2026). Don't count on a window like that: get the files right the first time.
  • These are the NEET-PG 2026 rules. When the NEET-PG 2027 bulletin and Image Upload Instructions come out on natboard.edu.in, check the KB limit, the format and the box size again.

Frequently asked questions

What is the NEET PG photo size in KB?

Less than 80 KB, as a .jpg or .jpeg, with no minimum. NBEMS calls it a passport size colour photo but gives no pixel or cm size, so keep the shape of your picture and fit the KB. It must be no more than 3 months old, on a white background, with your face filling at least 70–80% of the frame.

What size should the NEET PG signature be?

On paper, inside a box 3.5 cm wide × 1.5 cm high that you draw on plain white unlined paper; as a file, a JPG or JPEG under 80 KB, cropped to the box's borders. NBEMS gives no pixel size. Sign in black or dark blue ink with your full signature: initials only or ALL CAPITALS are rejected.

How do I make the left thumb impression for NEET PG?

Draw a 3.5 cm × 1.5 cm box (width × height) on white paper, ink your left thumb on a fresh blue or black ink pad and press it horizontally inside the box. Scan it at 200 dpi or photograph it in bright light, crop to the box, and make it a JPG under 80 KB. A smudged, dry, over-inked or cut-off print is rejected.

Can I wear spectacles in the NEET PG photo?

No. The instructions say no spectacles, cap or goggles, no stethoscope around the neck, and no makeup or ornaments. Wear formal clothes, keep a neutral face with your eyes open, and look at the camera.

What if my live photo and uploaded photo look different?

The application is rejected if the uploaded photo is grossly different from the live photo taken in the form. Use a recent photo (no more than 3 months old) that looks like you do now, with the same formal look you'll have for the live photo.
