Slideshow Maker

Turn a set of photos into a video slideshow with music and transitions, for YouTube, family events or a quick social post.

Made on your device; photos and music aren't uploaded. Use music you have the rights to: YouTube, Instagram and TikTok can mute or block videos with copyrighted songs.

How to make a slideshow with music

  1. Choose your photos. Reorder them with the arrows and set how many seconds each one shows (or set one time and press Apply to all photos).
  2. Add music if you like, and press Fit photos to the music to share the song's length equally between the photos.
  3. Pick a transition (fade, slide or a slow zoom) and a shape: 16:9 for YouTube, 9:16 for Reels and Shorts, square or 4:5 for feeds.
  4. Drag the preview slider to check it, then press Make video (or choose GIF) and download.

How the timing works

The slideshow is as long as all the photo times added together. A transition happens during the last part of each photo, so it doesn't make the video longer; it is limited to half of either photo's time so every photo is fully visible for a moment. Music longer than the slideshow is cut to fit and faded out at the end; shorter music simply ends.

Example

Three photos at 3 seconds each with a 1-second fade make a 9-second video: 225 frames at 25 frames per second. With a 45-second song, Fit photos to the music gives each photo 15 seconds. As a GIF the same 9 seconds needs only 23 frames, because a still photo is stored once and shown for its whole time: 3 held frames plus 10 frames for each of the two fades.

Tips

  • Photos of the same shape as the video look best with Crop to fill; for mixed portrait and landscape photos, Fit inside keeps every photo whole.
  • Need a short looping animation without sound? The GIF maker has more GIF options.
  • Fix rotated or dark photos first in the Photo editor.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a watermark or a sign-up?

No. The video is made in your browser from your own photos and music; nothing is uploaded and nothing is added to it.

What format is the video?

WebM (VP8 video with Opus sound), which YouTube accepts and modern browsers and VLC play. Some phone apps and social sites only take MP4; convert the file first for those. You can also save a silent GIF.

How long can a slideshow be?

Up to 100 photos and 10 minutes. Each photo can show for 0.2 to 60 seconds.

Can I use any song?

Only music you have the rights to. YouTube, Instagram and TikTok detect copyrighted songs and may mute, block or demonetise the video.

Why does it take as long as the video in my browser?

Chrome, Edge, Firefox and recent Safari encode the video faster than it plays. Browsers without that feature record the slideshow while it plays instead, so keep the tab open and visible until it finishes.
