Photo Editor

Crop, rotate, resize, colour-correct and add text or a border to a photo in one place, then save it as JPG, PNG or WebP.

How to edit a photo online

  1. Choose a photo. It appears in the preview straight away.
  2. Pick a tab: Crop (free, 1:1, 4:5, 3:2, 16:9, 9:16 or a circle), Rotate & flip, Resize, Adjust & filters, Text or Border. Every change shows in the preview.
  3. Made a mistake? Press Undo. Each tab's changes stay when you switch to another.
  4. Choose JPG, PNG or WebP and press Download. The download is made from your full-size photo, not the smaller preview.

The order edits are applied in

The editor always works in the same order, whatever order you click in: rotate and flip, then crop, then resize, then colours and filters, then text, and finally the border. So a crop drawn on a rotated photo stays where you drew it, and the border width is measured on the finished picture: a 5% border is 5% of the shorter side.

Example

A 4000 × 3000 photo turned right becomes 3000 × 4000. A 1:1 crop of that is 3000 × 3000; resizing to 50% gives 1500 × 1500, and a 5% border adds 75 pixels on each side, so the file you download is 1650 × 1650 pixels. The editor shows this output size before you save.

Colour adjustments

Brightness, contrast and saturation use the same formulas as the CSS filters in web browsers (100% means unchanged), so the result looks the same in every browser. The filters are fixed recipes: B&W is full greyscale with 10% extra contrast, Vintage is 60% sepia with softer contrast, and Vivid raises saturation to 140%.

Tips

HEIC photos are decoded with libheif and libde265 (libheif-js 1.23.2, licensed under the LGPL-3.0), loaded unmodified as a separate file. Licence and source code.

Frequently asked questions

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The editor runs in your browser: the photo is opened, edited and saved on your device, so private pictures never reach a server.

Can I undo a change?

Yes. Use Undo and Redo above the photo, or Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y (Cmd+Z and Cmd+Shift+Z on a Mac). The last 50 steps are kept, and Reset goes back to the original.

Which photos can I open?

JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF (first frame), plus HEIC photos from iPhones. Safari reads HEIC itself; other browsers use a built-in decoder that loads the first time you need it. Files can be up to 30 MB.

Does editing lower the quality?

PNG is saved without any loss. JPG and WebP are re-compressed at the quality you choose (92% by default, which looks the same as the original for most photos). Making a photo smaller or cropping it removes pixels, so keep your original.

How do I make a round profile picture?

Open Crop, choose Circle, move the circle over the face and download as PNG so the corners stay transparent. The Circle crop tool does just that, with an optional coloured ring.
