Social Media Image Sizes & Resizer

Find the right image size for any social platform, then crop and resize your photo to fit, all in one place.

Instagram portrait post (4:5): 1080 × 1350 px (4:5). Takes the most space in the feed.

Resized in your browser; your photo is never uploaded.

How to resize an image for social media

  1. Choose your photo or design.
  2. Pick the platform and the kind of image, such as an Instagram post, a LinkedIn banner or a YouTube thumbnail.
  3. Choose Fill to crop to the exact shape, or Fit to keep the whole picture with a background colour around it.
  4. Zoom and drag the preview until the important part is in frame, then download. Or download every size for that platform at once as a ZIP.

Tips so nothing important gets cut off

  • Profile photos are shown as circles, so the corners disappear. The preview shades them; keep faces and logos in the middle.
  • Banners are cropped differently on phones. The YouTube guide shows the area every device displays. On X and LinkedIn your profile photo sits over the lower left of the banner.
  • Text and logos stay sharper as PNG; photos are smaller as JPG.
  • Bigger is fine if the shape is the same. A 2160 × 2700 image works for a 4:5 post, and platforms scale it down.

Sizes are from each platform's help pages and up-to-date guides, checked in October 2026. Platforms change them from time to time; if an upload looks cropped, check the app's own guidance. For any other size, use the Image resizer, and to make a file smaller in KB, the Image compressor.

Frequently asked questions

What size is an Instagram post in 2026?

1080 × 1350 pixels (4:5) takes the most space in the feed. 1080 × 1440 (3:4) matches the profile grid exactly, so nothing is cropped there. Square posts are 1080 × 1080.

What size is a LinkedIn banner?

The profile background is 1584 × 396 pixels (4:1). Your profile photo covers part of the lower left, so keep text towards the centre and right.

What size is a YouTube banner?

Upload 2560 × 1440 pixels, and keep text and logos inside the central 1546 × 423 area, which is the part shown on phones, computers and TVs alike.

Why does my photo look blurry after uploading?

Platforms re-compress uploads. Upload at the listed size in the right shape so they don't have to resize it, and use PNG for images with text or logos.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The resizing happens in your browser, and the photo never leaves your device.
