About WebP
WebP is an image format from Google that supports both lossy and lossless compression and transparency, which is why so many websites serve it. When you save a picture from a site, you often get a .webp file. Converting it back is quick and happens on your device.
Example: a product photo with a soft shadow
Shop images saved as WebP often have a transparent background and a soft shadow. As PNG, both stay exactly as they are. As JPG, the background becomes your fill colour and a shadow pixel that is 30% black is blended with it: on white it becomes (178, 178, 178), a light grey, so the shadow still looks natural on a white page.

Why can't I open or upload a WebP file?
WebP is a newer format that websites use because the files are small. Browsers show it, but some older apps, photo printers and many upload forms still only take JPG or PNG. Converting gives you a file they accept.
Should I convert WebP to JPG or PNG?
JPG for photos: smaller files that open everywhere. PNG when the picture has a transparent background, such as a sticker, logo or product cut-out, or when it is mostly text and sharp lines.
Will I lose quality?
To PNG, no: PNG is lossless. To JPG, a little, as with any JPG; at 90% quality the difference isn't visible for normal viewing. Raise the slider to 100% for the largest, closest copy.
What about animated WebP files?
Only the first frame is converted, because JPG and PNG hold a single picture. To keep the animation, keep the WebP or record it again as a GIF.
How many files can I convert at once?
Up to 50. Select them together; the converted files download one by one or together in a ZIP, with their original names.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Your browser decodes the WebP and saves the new file itself, so nothing leaves your device.
