How to take the click speed test

  1. Choose a test length: 5 seconds is the usual one.
  2. Click the box to start, then keep clicking until the time is up.
  3. Read your clicks per second; the box waits a second before it starts again so your last clicks don't begin a new test.

Ways people click faster

  • Regular clicking: one finger on the button, wrist resting.
  • Jitter clicking: tensing the forearm so the finger vibrates on the button; it's tiring, so take breaks.
  • Butterfly clicking: two fingers taking turns on the same button.

For other speed tests, try the spacebar clicker and the APM test; to check that your mouse isn't double-clicking by itself, the mouse test.

Everything runs in your browser; scores aren't uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

What is CPS?

Clicks per second: how many times you click in a test divided by the test's length in seconds. It's the usual way to compare clicking speed, and it matters in games where you attack or build by clicking.

How is the score worked out?

The clock starts with your first click and the test counts every click until time runs out. 32 clicks in a 5-second test is 32 ÷ 5 = 6.4 clicks per second. The fastest second is the most clicks inside any one-second stretch of the test.

Which test length should I choose?

Short tests (1 to 5 seconds) measure your burst speed; 30 to 100 seconds measure how long you can keep it up, and the score usually drops as your hand tires. Compare scores only for the same length: your best is kept separately for each.

Do right clicks count?

No, only the left button (or a tap on a touch screen), like other CPS tests. To count every button and the keyboard together, use the APM test.

Where is my best score saved?

In this browser on this device only; nothing is sent anywhere. Clearing the site's data or using a private window starts you again from no best score.
